Rclone has been banned from Amazon Drive

Regarding GSuite, even if they decide to impose the 4 user requirement to get unlimited storage, you can always add on a few friends to the account to satisfy that requirement.

That’s assuming you have friends… or at least friends that are willing to cough up $10/month and give you admin access to their data…

Odrive still works. interesting how it could be

4 “people” would probably do just as well. $50/mo for no limit on storage still sounds like a good deal to me

I got as answer, that rclone and acd_cli do not support 3rd party integration for amazon cloud drive anymore.
The’ve suggested to use 0drive or Goodsync as Linux app.

rclone + acd_cli provide options to mount acd as a mountpoint/drive.

Expandrive works also as a mount / drive inside windows.
Maybe they beginning to ban this kind of apps.

It is clear that the ban targeted Rclone and acd_cli in order for amazon to get rid of all those users abusing their service. Of course we know people were holding encrypted pirated data on their servers and running Plex servers for profit. We saw benchmarks from people and how proud they were they could run 30 streams from amazon/google.
Of course it is was organized with Google to hit at the same time.
Amazon shutting down Rclone and acd_cli and Google disabling all ebay accounts to hit this particular pirates group.

I don’t see rclone support coming back to amazon. Google already using throttling - maybe if amazon does this in the future (which is actually doing now with acd_cli) and evaluate how it goes for them - maybe they will allow something similar again in the future but throttled to avoid these issues…

That’s my view on the subject as historical data points towards that…

But you are not a new developer! This is lame! I want and need rclone in conjunction with my Amazon account. Otherwise, Amazon Cloud Drive is just not as useful to me.

Where can we petition to have rclone reinstated?!

Everyone, please contact Amazon and request that rclone be reinstated! They have a contact page at the location that Nick posted.

https://developer.amazon.com/public/support/contact/contact-us?sc_channel=website&sc_publisher=devportal&sc_campaign=Conversion_Contact-Us&sc_assettype=conversion&sc_team=us&sc_traffictype=organic&sc_country=united-states&sc_segment=all&sc_itrackingcode=100020_us_website&sc_detail=dp-doc-resources

The lack of throttling for ACD may be why they are not allowing new keys at this point. I expect they will do some type of throttling and then open back up developer access once in place. Just my 2 cents.

I’ve a feeling that they’ll ban anything that is useful beyond syncing a few photo albums.

Looks like they did the same to ARQ yesterday, but brought it back.

commercial product.

I bet many people here would rather buy rclone for 50$ (or whatever is arq’s price) if it was working properly (instead of buying arq).

EDIT: and by “working properly” I meant of course “not banned”, there isn’t anything particularly wrong with rclone.

I wrote to amazon yesterday and they replied:

Regrettably, Amazon Drive no longer has third-party integration with rclone. You can use our Amazon Drive apps available for PC, Mac, iOS, or android to access and manage your files. To download these apps go to https://www.amazon.com/gp/drive/app-download and select the platform you would like to use.

For computers using Linux you can use these third-party applications to access and manage your files.

Thanks!

This is beyond weird since as far as i know acd_cli got new secret.

p.s. Someone could donate secret to ncw so he can build auth server.

I got the same response from Amazon:

Here’s the response I got, for the record:

Hello Stephen,

At this time, the Amazon Drive ended the invitation period with third party apps. I’m very sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause. This is definitely not what we want our customers to experience.

You can use one of our Amazon Drive apps (available for PC/Mac/iOS/Android) to sync / upload / connect to Amazon Drive. You can use open source code to connect to Amazon Drive another way.

However, I understand that having the feature re-enabled would be convenient and also improve our customer experience if we are able to negotiate and convince the developer team.

Considering your comments as a feedback, I’ve forwarded your email to our Amazon Drive Specialist Team. They will carefully review your comments and I know they’ll want to hear about your experience.

We’re regularly working on making improvements to your Amazon Drive experience and will definitely consider your feedback. The Business Team will carefully review your comments.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We look forward to seeing you again.

We’d appreciate your feedback. Please use the buttons below to vote about your experience today.

Yeah that’s great except that the PC drive app is horrible. Constantly hangs, can’t really configure or automate it very well, not reliable at all.

you’re overselling it. the desktop app doesn’t work at all. I’ve never been able to upload a file with it and then download that file.

of course for files under 2gb and with no automation at all, the website does work, sometimes.

amazon’s own software is really laughably bad.

Let’s face the truth.

All these plex boys think that someone will allow them to hold 20-30tb or more of data for $5-10 / month. It is pathetic.
They are only complicating life to other representative users.
Now the google will also make the next step and block some software and it’s only a matter of time.
