pCloud Crypto Folder. How to use configure to sync?

How do I configure pCloud to read the Ccrypto folder part of the files stored?

I have around 4GB worth that I want to move out from pCloud to another cloud storage.

hello and welcome to the forum,

it would be helpful that if you have a question, you would use the question template, instead of rclone template. as it would have asked you some basic questions, so we can better help you

so you have a crypted folder in your pcloud?
was that folder encrypted with rclone?

edit: i read that the crypto folder is a feature of pcloud, not rclone.

so you have a crypted folder in your pcloud?
Yes. I have an encrypted folder in pCloud. When it was synced, it came out all encrypted.

was that folder encrypted with rclone?
The export was all encrypted.

Is there a way for RClone to export the Crypto Folder of PCloud?

yes, i understand now,

what is your operating system?

from what i just read, there is software called pcloud drive.
that seems to create a virtual drive on your computer.
if you can get that crypto folder mounted as a drive letter on your computer, we can figure something out.

also, 4GB is very small amount of data. i could download that in about two minutes.
perhaps just download thta 4GB to your local computer and then use rclone to upload it somewhere else

My OS is Windows.
Typo. it's not 4GB. it's 500GB+.

I can get that crypto-folder mounted as a subdirectory in the drive-letter on my computer.

let's say the subfolder is
c:\path\to\subfolder

try this, do you see the files?
rclone ls c:\path\to\subfolder

When I use RClone with a pCloud token, i get this:

Transferring:

  • System Volume Information/WPSettings.dat: transferring

  • Crypto Folder/OX65YBIL…EEXOOX27FGXC75MEBLVXQA: 0% /1.839G, 0/s, -
  • Crypto Folder/OX65YBIL…HT7EI65J5VWHS6UQ4LG7KE:100% /89.490k, 89.489k/s, 0s
  • Crypto Folder/OX65YBIL…MQQEBGTTQJSCTYL62IRYYI:100% /611.541k, 610.350k/s, 0s

Obviously that's not working...

I get error. Please see:
2020/04/07 19:58:01 ERROR : DIRECTORY: error listing: failed to read directory entry: FindNextFile ?\p:\crypto folder\DIRECTORY: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

2020/04/07 19:58:01 ERROR : DIRECTORY2: error listing: failed to read directory entry: FindNextFile ?\p:\crypto folder\DIRECTORY2: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

what is the drive/folder where the unencrypted files are located?

all the others except p:\Crypto Folder\

if I do a RClone on p:\Shared\ it works. but not p:\Crypto Folder\ and it just crashes on that folder's sub-directories.

so now you know where the files are, good.

have you created the new remote yet, what is it name?
let's say it is called newremote:

then you can run this command
rclone sync p:\shared newremote: --dry-run

So the error is in pCloud?

yes,
when tesing it is good to use --dry-run flag
when you are sure the command is working, then remove that flag.

https://rclone.org/docs/#n-dry-run

why are you using p:\crypto folder, as you already know that is not good?

you wrote that the files are located in p:\Shared\

works for me.

rclone ls "P:\Crypto Folder"
8 folder/b/b.txt
2 folder/b/bb.txt
1 folder/a/1.txt
1 folder/a/2.txt
9 folder/a/a.txt
22 folder/a/aa.txt
22 folder/a/aaa.txt
22 folder/a/aaaa.txt
4 folder/c/c.txt
2 folder/c/cc.txt
9 folder/a/aa/aa.txt
8 folder/d/d.txt
3 folder/d/dd.txt

The main issue, is how SLOW pCloud is and cloud-related file-corruptions.

Example, it will take me 9 months for me to download all the files I've stored on pCloud. Granted, I will renew 8TB worth of data in a month or two. Should I pay to renew for 8TB for this?

I can't spend months downloading my files on a slow-as-morasses storage. I'd rather move it to a competing cloud-storage provider which provided end-to-end crypto.

It's all fine and dandy, fast speeds, file integrity, but after a year or so, the files start to "rot" on the cloud. I get device errors, download missing blocks (or partial files), and this is frankly, embarrassing. The last straw, was when I tried to download critical files which took ~ 2 weeks to move from pCloud to local storage, and there were multiple errors that occurred.

So these errors are no surprise to me.

again, working for me.

there are many slow, lame cloud providers, i guess pcloud is one of them.

i use wasabi, which i consider the best of cloud service i have ever tested.

perhaps the problem is your computer and internet connection?

one option is to rent a seedbox, which has fast speeds and run rclone on that

8TB is not a lot of data.
what i do is i have a local server to store the data and backup it up to cloud.
i use cloud for backup only, not storing data

How much do you pay for 8TB on pcloud yearly?
