GSuite is evolving to Workspace, so prices and TBs too

Yes, it's Google normally announces changes to products within Google via email like that. It's not related to the overall GSuite/Workplace changes.

Google Workspace Enterprise Plus have (real) unlimited storage? Is possible to buy?

I saw, that some of you already upgraded their plans from the former "GSuite Business".
May i ask why you did that as it seems that there is no change for us "old" users and maybe there wont be a change at all at any time.
I thought about upgrading as well, only out of the reason being on the "safe" site and i thought maybe they changing the price model again and i may be forced anytime to upgrade to an unlimited plan with an even higher cost.

The email states

"These changes will not impact your current contract, and your existing G Suite licenses and related services will continue to function as they do today, until it’s time to transition. See details below."

And in the details below

"If you’re not ready to transition now, the Google Workspace team will be sharing additional information over the coming months to identify a transition path that best suits your needs."

So it sounds like everyone will be forced to upgrade at some point. I'm thinking of doing a contact support to have it on record that I will keep my unlimited drive space before completing the upgrade. I worry if I wait until they force the transition then it may cost more.

i am not sure what you are saying with your "unlimited drive space" beacuse as far as i understand you have a 1-account gsuite business, like me, and that is not a unlimited plan on our contract paper.

to which plan would you upgrade then?
i think that those new 1TB and 2TB plans are not unlimited anymore and one would need to go at least with the enterprise standard plan to keep the unlimited state.

actually the informations on the google workspace page are pretty annoying.
here its written clearly that workspace enterprise has unlimited storage:

on this new gdrive workspace site its written that on the enterprise ans business plans its unlimited storage if you have 5 or more users:
https://workspace.google.com/products/drive/

and here on the ToS

is an entry for " G Suite Business" (that should be our current plan right now or am i wrong?)
""G Suite Business" is an edition of Google Workspace comprised of all the Google Workspace Services, except Google Voice. Customers that have 5 or more End Users will receive unlimited Google Drive storage."

and for the Enterprise, likle written before:
""Google Workspace Enterprise Standard" is an edition of Google Workspace ... Customers that have 5 or more End Users will receive a total amount of Google Drive storage equal to 5TB times the number of End Users, with more storage available at Google's discretion upon reasonable request to Google."

I have 5 users on my account so I meet the terms for Gsuite unlimited.

For what i see, if you choose the "Business Standard", they didn't put in the box the "if more 5 users unlimited storage" like the old plans of GSuite, but i can be wrong, and Friday said if you have 5 or more users, if you have 5 users will acquire 1TB each.

The enterprise standard plan would be a great deal for unlimited storage without having to worry about Google one day enforcing a storage limit policy.

Hopefully the specialists around this forum will keep us posted on the subject !

@Aerya and @Friday13th

let's be civil towards @Alcahest.

it is clear that both of you have a better command of the english language.
why not put it to better use in the forum?

Made my best, i'm off. cheers.

Well, it' really a pain Google puts on the front page of the subscription plan for entreprise standard "unlimited" but still say in their terms of service :

"Customers that have 5 or more End Users will receive a total amount of Google Drive storage equal to 5TB times the number of End Users, with more storage available at Google's discretion upon reasonable request to Google."

On one hand this is the same thing the current gsuite business says, and you can understand them wanting to be able to put a limit if someone stores a couple of petabytes on their server.

I would just like them to be more clear on their offer. As I see it now, there is a clear disreptancy between the description of the service and the terms of service.

Not sure if I should upgrade or not ah !

I still have a grandfathered 10 years old free GSuite account for up to 50 users...
So as long as i don't receive a notification forcing me to upgrade, i will keep my current unlimited Gsuite account ...

Hi fellas!
Google deleted "my" ebay buyed Gsuite. I lost about 10TB but I don't care (maybe little bit crying only :joy:). But I see now Dropbox offers 15€/month unlimited storage. And I see rclone supports it. So my question is somebody can tell me who using it that Dropbox is reliable with encrypted rclone mount? I mean they not going to delete the files? Or somebody have better offer/suggestion? Thx!

Ohh Jesus. Min. 3 users so it's 45€/month :frowning: any better?

Nope, unless you go in with some friends to lower the cost. I've been trying out DB as a gdrive replacement and so far I've been happy with the performance. The cost? Well to build a NAS I'd be looking at around $3500, not to mention the electric bill. $720/year for DB is cheap compared to that.

John

Hey is there any way you could give me some tips on how to set up db mount for streaming? I use emby, and it is not working. I tested a few different options for mount.

Nothing Fancy. Same mount I use for gdrive. What is emby doing?
/usr/bin/rclone mount dcrypt: /mnt/media --config /root/.config/rclone/rclone.conf --vfs-cache-mode full --vfs-cache-max-size 150G --vfs-cache-max-age 168h --cache-dir /home/rclone/vfs_cache --dir-cache-time 24000h --log-level INFO --log-file /var/log/drop_rclone.log --umask 002 --allow-other --rc --rc-no-auth --rc-addr 0.0.0.0:572

I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Emby just spins when trying to play, then nothing.

Google team drives will remain "unlimited" right, with its special restrictions.. ?

I have over 50 TB of encrypted stuff on multiple team drives..
I dont want to this data them if possible..
Would love to know, if somebody has some answers perhaps for me.. ?

So far I cannot found any info about this by google.

Thanks in advance,

Google sent an email a couple days ago about changes it will implement to photos and some other storage space THAT IS NOT RELATED to gsuite etc.

This is just to illustrate how they are proceeding with any changes when it comes to user data, this is not a policy but me trying to illustrate why you should not worry about possible data loss and go into panic mode right now.

In their mail unrelated to gsuite, they clearly state 2 things about how they will procedd with users exceeding their data storage :
1 - if the account has been inactive for 2 years
2 - OR if the account has been over data storage allowance for 2 years

THEN after these 2 years they will remove the data.

What to learn from this ?
Do not panic, wait and see the changes that will happen and what solutions will exist withing google or somewhere else then.
They will not simply delete your data from one day to the next.
