Why --bind to IP with plex mount?

Most recommendations I see here for mounting Google Drive for Plex includes the --bind IP flag. Why do people do this?
I'm running plex on a mount without it and don't notice a performance issue. I'm curious as to what it's for. The docs don't have much on it.

Depending on your ISP, I believe folks thought you'd get better performance on IPV4 rather than using IPV6. I'm on Verizon FIOS so no IPV6 so it doesn't really matter.

I used bind before as I had multiple interfaces on my Linux box and did not want to bind rclone to my VPN interface, which would be another use case.

I've removed bind from my config some time back as I only have a single interface these days.
