Uptobox: failed to copy: api error 1 : Could not find current path

Hello,

I installed rclone today on linux ubuntu and ran rclone config to add my uptobox account.
Created a /rp folder on uptobox

Tried a directory backup:

rclone copy /var/www/vhosts/rp.com/httpdocs uptobox:/rp

I am getting hundreds (one error for each file) of errors:
ERROR : gal/slides/08-131704a.JPG: Failed to copy: api error 1: An error occured: Could not find current path

On uptobox I see that all folders and subfolders were created, but no files were copied.
Is this a BUG? Is this my user error?

thanks

hello and welcome to the forum,

very hard to share a good answer, as when you posted, there was a template of questions, most of which you did not answer.
please help us to help you and answer all the template questions.

Ok here goes:

What is the problem you are having with rclone?

I can copy folders to uptobox, not files.

EDIT: I then tried the same command as below but with 1fichier as host and all works well, so I suspect a bug in rclone or a modification in the API.

What is your rclone version (output from rclone version)

rclone v1.57.0

  • os/version: ubuntu 20.04 (64 bit)
  • os/kernel: 5.4.0-91-generic (x86_64)
  • os/type: linux
  • os/arch: amd64
  • go/version: go1.17.2
  • go/linking: static
  • go/tags: none

Which cloud storage system are you using? (eg Google Drive)

Uptobox

The command you were trying to run (eg rclone copy /tmp remote:tmp)

rclone copy /var/www/vhosts/rp.com/httpdocs uptobox:/rp

need to see a debug log by adding -vv to the command.

copy a single file and post the entire log, and enclose it with three backticks so it is formatted like this

rclone v1.57.0
- os/version: ubuntu 20.04 (64 bit)
- os/kernel: 5.10.60.1-microsoft-standard-WSL2 (x86_64)
- os/type: linux
- os/arch: amd64
- go/version: go1.17.2
- go/linking: static
- go/tags: none

OK - I only installed rclone this morning so I hope this is the correct command to copy a single file.

sorry, i have never tested uptobox as they block me, even their support page is blocked.

"This page is not allowed in the US"

OK. Are you the official support or is there a chance that the rclone developer will look into what seems to be a bug?
Otherwise I will seek to cancel my uptobox 5 year subscription purchased for rclone purpose this morning

  • can you run this, and upload the rclone.log file
    rclone copy /var/www/vhosts/riviera-photography.com/httpdocs/acropolis.html uptobox:/rp --dump=headers --retries=1 --low-level-retries=1 --log-level=DEBUG --log-file=rclone.log

  • there is a chance that one of the primary developers will stop by.
tho in the last few weeks, none have stopped by.

  • from what i have read, they might offer ftp access and rclone supports ftp.
    https://github.com/rclone/rclone/issues/4467

Might be a good idea, my very quick background check did discover information that would make me check further or just walk away. E.g. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/uptobox.com

Hi,
I have switched to using 1fichier and all works perfectly. I tried logging into rclone.log but my private token appears very often so not posting this file. As I am convinced this is a bug with rclone (probably due to a change in API) I will not pursue this further.

I will however continue monitoring this thread to see if the developer finds a resolution as I was unable to cancel my 5-year uptobox subscription (owner is quite mean: refused my cancellation despite me sending in the request less than 24 hours after 5-year subscription!)

thanks

I tried a last thing: based on your recommendation I tried to upload to uptobox via rclone's FTP feature.

I am getting a different kind of failure.
Command:
rclone copy rptest.zip ftpu:/rp

Problems:
Uploads do not happen in /rp, but in FTP
No subfolders are created: this filename is literrally rp/rptest.zip
Rclone outputs errors:

And finally the funny thing: the file is actually transferred successfully 3 times! One for each attempt.

how do you know what?

that debug log is missing the top lines.
need to post the full debug log.

to copy the file a single file, try --retries=1

Reading github exchanges I discovered that rclone could only upload to uptobox's root folder.
So the following command will successfully copy fiels to uptobox:

rclone copy -v rptest.zip uptobox:

And the following will generate an error:

rclone copy -v rptest.zip uptobox:/

rclone copy -v rptest.zip uptobox:/anydirectory

This should be specified in the documentation:
