"Unlimited" alternatives to Google Drive, what are the options?

Hi,

There is www.darkibox.com wich is unlimited storage and claim to be extremly fast and cheap.

I'm trying to use it with rclone but there's no (backend / remote) to use it with the API. I didn't manage to make it work with with rclone with FTP wich works with FileZilla and AirExplorer.

Did someone tried it and manage to make it work or can test it to see if it's what it claims to be : Fast and unlimited for 9,99EUR$/Months (https://darkibox.com/premium)

If someone here can create the source code for the backend or anyone that can help me to config the FTP to make it work. I will appreciate. https://darkibox.com/api.html

Thanks

Probably worth waiting to see if it lasts more than a year before spending a lot of time on the API.

From their website:

“ Darkibox is a video hosting provider. We offer online storage, sophisticated uploading and video streaming tools. With Darkibox you can host your videos and play them online from browser / mobile devices.”

It is not a storage service for any other files.

There is no unlimited storage for €10 a month and won’t be in foreseeable future:)

If only someone could figure out how to store data as video on YouTube, like we used to with VHS tapes back in the day.

The website celebrate a year a couple weeks ago.

Just like 1Fichier and UpToBox, Theu were cheap and unlimited.
Darkibox is the Owner of Darkiworld wich is the biggest video hosting of "shared videos" and they link video files from Darkibox to Darkiworld to expend they librairy. They have the biggest French librairy that I have seen in the last 20 years of torrenting and streaming. There's no video player on Darkibox in fact, we are just allowed to download files :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, they haven't reduced by half, but the 200 TB plan has gone. And no, the prices are not the same either, but doubled. 200 TB was available for 64 USD before the change, now it's “only” 100 TB for the same price. I ordered the 50 TB plan on July 18 and paid 16 USD for it. And at the moment the plan is still the same and I'm not paying any more, as I only paid 16 USD on August 18. According to the new plan, I should have paid 32 USD. However, I have not received an email with the change. The question is how long I will stay on the old plan. The problem is that I actually wanted to go to the 100 TB plan for the old price of 32 USD, but now I would have to pay 64 USD, which would be four times as much. Not bad, because I think 100 TB for 64 USD is a good price.

Oh, and they haven't adjusted the data transfer per month. Previously it was three times the storage, e.g. 50 TB storage and 150 TB data transfer. But now it's 50 TB storage and 300 TB data transfer, so six times as much. It seems like they just divided the storage variable once by two, but didn't adjust anything else.

My advantage of the old plan: The old price (16 USD)
My disadvantage of the old plan: Less data transfer (150 TB)

By the way, I have no problem with the speed. My server has a 2.5 Gbit connection and that's what I get with ULOZ. But my server is also located in Germany, so the connection to the Czech Republic is of course very good.

If you have any more questions about ULOZ, please let me know.

I kind of expected this change at uloz and i luckily got the 200TB-plan when it was still available.
So far they keep this plan active.
I hope i will not be downgraded. But making the prices more realistic is actually a good sign that they managed to turn around their business. Some here were speculating that they are just burning already paid for resources and will then close down. Looks like they are there to stay.
Besides occasional downtimes (API not reachable at all) i am also quite pleased with uloz so far. Sure, they don't have worldwide mirrors of data and fast worldwide accessibility. But those features of the big cloud-space-players are really not needed for every project in my opinion but they make you pay for it even if you don't need it.
When they wouldn't have changed the plans i would have got another 200TB-account for sure

I have tested over 20 different storage providers over the years. From the name brands to back alley start-ups and end-point backups.

I only recommended 2, and this is after a year of testing both, very rigorously.

quotaless.cloud - Its $20 per 10TB of storage, however its a 1 time fee, you can buy 200TB only ONCE, and you will keep the 200TB and only have to pay the monthly fee of 60 euro. All their servers are in the US, I can max out my 5gb fiber speed to their servers. It comes rclone ready, with support for webdav as well. I use it daily to stream my collection to my shield.

My second goto is idrive 360, its an endpoint backup that allows you to backup anything on your computer, external drives, local files, AND network shares, and its unlimited storage. I currently have 116TB stored with them, however their app is rather hard on the CPU, if you have an older CPU your speeds will not be great. I have a 12th gen core i7 with 64gb ram, and it hits 70% cpu usage and I only get about 1.5 gigabit per second. So slightly higher then a gigabit, right now its uploading at 160 MB/s. Its a perfect way to backup your remote connected nas. When i signed up it was only $10.00/month for 5 computers, and they all get unlimited storage.

1st pic is quota, 2nd is idrive 360.

and so it begins.

Time after time :joy:

I didn't notice idrive360 before your post, thx. It's not an alternative to gdrive&co because you can't mount it via rclone, but it is an answer to some needs.

I notice that the client is very heavy on the cpu too (I've activated multiple chunk + own encryption key), but, It's only a problem for the first sync imo. I'm in the 7 days trials, let see If I go paid plan after that.

Right, idrive is my "disaster recovery", in case quota disappears or whatever the need is, i will have a complete backup of my nas. idrive isnt going anywhere anytime soon, i hope. So its just for peace of mind knowing that I can restore any of my data when needed.

You can also use their client to backup to a local source on your infrastructure, encryption and all.

By default the backup wont backup files like .iso's, so you need to stop the backup first, then goto settings and clear the exclusion file types. There are 3 sections to clear, make sure you clear all 3 ( local, entire, and mapped/remote directory backup ), once you clear the extensions, start the backup again and then it backs up everything.

When you say "it comes rclone ready", what do you mean? I don't see it among the supported storage systems.

Also, you say you can buy 200TB but I see only the 20TB option. Are more storage options unlocked after signing up or you refer to using the Union backend in rclone?

It is supported through rclone via the "Minio" service, which is similar to amazon AWS service. ( Option 4 I think when selecting the storage system) All the instructions on how to setup rclone to connect to their servers will be in an e-mail once you sign up. When you sign up, its $20 per 10TB of storage, one time fee. There should be an up and down arrow to select how many chunks of 10TB you want, if you select 5x, (100TB) and continue to sign-up, you will see a one time charge of $100, plus the monthly $60 euro fee.

And yes, once you purchase storage, you can always buy more through your account in their website control panel at any point. I started off at 100tb to make sure I was not just throwing my money away, and you can pay via PayPal to give you a peace of mind, as in if they don't deliver what you expect, or have continuous problems, you can challenge the amount via PayPal. They key thing is here, the amount of storage you want is a one time fee, I have had 300TB on their systems for over a year now, and only have to pay 60 euro a month after I purchased the chunks. I have already gotten my money's worth out of it IMO, as a regular hosted server with 300TB of space would be $350.00 +/month, and most dedicated servers do not give you a dedicated 10gb link, most are 10gb for xxtb a month, then it slows down to 1gig.

If you don't want to invest in Quotaless or iDrive, message me. We still have space left with Google.

Anyone using Quotaless.cloud for a bit of time able to confirm legitimacy and quality and such. It looks like a great service just want to make sure it is.

I have about 60tb of videos and family documents and photos that I have backed up in cold storage but need a reliable online solution for regular access to them since I can't do home storage easily.

From what I have seen for Quotaless, I have no confidence in the legitimacy of the service and if you explore, you wouldn't find much except a BR registration with all the details hidden for the domain and a cheap incomplete website backed with IPTV provider like order processing portal. The whole setup looks like it has been done without much time and money spent on it. I suggest you do the same and don't waste your time on it as it will disappear just as fast. Just my two cents.

u can run xpenology in ur own hw. that is what i do at the moment.

trick to do what exactly?

Transferring massive amounts of data between WS accounts. But I think the loophole was closed.
