I dont care if they lose money because of me. G loses loads of money every month because of their decision to alter my contract. I am sure, it does not really hurt them. I do care however, to find a permanent home for my digital storage needs.
And telegram obviously isnt it. If you use it as a dump and run, fine. If you use it as a backup or storage location, you'll have fun ride ahead.
And apart from Box, none of the storage providers altered the deals because of them losing money or having their infrastructure abused in any significant way. They changed the rules because they could and because their greedy shareholders needed to be satisfied.
Saw this. Not following. What SX box product at Hetzner is $1.30-1.50 ?
And you aren't greedy when you want 100s of TiB for no money? The world doesn't owe you anything dude. It was a nice ride but even if they can afford it why should they give you anything for free? You give nothing back.
Has anyone received an email from google about the read-only mode and saying that google will only give 30 more days to regularize the space and if not they will deactivate the account?
Not your dude. And not your bro.
What the world owes me or not is an entirely different conversation.
Google however owed me what we contractually agreed upon. And they did not deliver at some point. I however kept paying - and still am - hundreds of dollars every month as agreed.
Nothing was free. Or given.
"You give nothing back."? I paid for the service they offered me.
Fwits like you are the reason people keep getting screwed over by large corps.
Has anyone had any luck with dropbox support? My Team Lead has been told by them, despite what they said on their blog, that the account will be read only for up to a year and not be writable.
They said that's what the blog means, but that doesn't make sense since they say they'll add 5TB, why would they add 5TB if it would be locked into read only.
@fidodone have you tried to reach out to Google Support about this?
Which e-mail? Are you thinking of this reddit thread, or?
https://www.reddit.com/r/gsuite/comments/17rrkq7/so_it_seems_the_2year_readonly_workspace_grace/
So it seems the 2-year read-only Workspace grace period is actually 30 days for over quota plans.
Got this on my mother language, so I used DeepL for English:
We noticed that your account at XXXX is using more storage than than is available. That's why we've put your account in read-only status.
Learn more about what happens when you exceed your storage limits. Since you haven't taken the necessary steps to free up or purchase more storage, we will suspend your subscription to Google Workspace Enterprise Standard subscription on December 9, 2023 (30 days from now).
If you do nothing, your subscription to Google Workspace Enterprise Standard subscription will be canceled. You can export all your organization's data before then. We will send you a notification before the cancellation. When the subscription is canceled, you will lose all your data for good.
See you soon,
Google Workspace Team
I think we can be sure that if Google should start mass-mailing these, we will be the first to know in this thread
I think no one knows how long the grace period for paid Workspace accounts over quota is or will be set to, yet.
I guess the two years mentioned in the subject is a mix-up up with the inactivity period for free accounts, before they are deleted. Google will start deleting inactive accounts this December, last thing I heard.
Got the email as well.
Google just makes it better and better... /s
Ah, interesting - could you post the non-translated version, if that is what you got?
Had Google for years. Doesn't work anymore. Moved to Dropbox after careful consultancy with their sales org. They dropped the ball now too.
Am looking at options. From what I can see iDrive e2 is the best option right now based on cost, performance?
Also eyeing getting a couple of large HDDs instead. This is approaching not being worth the time anymore going from shit service to shit service.
Has anyone been able to pull 30+ TB off box.com?
I have the SX134. It’s currently ~$277/month for 160TB, so $277/160TB = ~$1.73/TB. This will fluctuate due to the exchange rate into Euros.
I've received...I thought I could at least keep my files for a while I looked for an alternative, but Google again did not keep its word.
what was your initial end of the grace period time starts?
I had it on 08-11
September if I remember
Gdrive speed is stunning?
Finally got my almost 4tb off after much pain dealing with the box support team.
Ouch 4TB I want 10x that…
