"Unlimited" alternatives to Google Drive, what are the options?

A solution to what need?

If you want stable and cheap, Google is a way to go.

  1. Create an Enterprise account, add 5 users, upload 25TB.
  2. Ask for expansion, 25TB of storage will be added (5TB/user).
  3. Upload 25TB more.
  4. To save money, remove 4 users from the account. Your account will now be in read-only mode, as you have uploaded 50TB and your quota is 30TB (5TB for the one paid user + the 25TB that was added to the account).
  5. After 90 days, add 4 users to the account again.
  6. Ask for another expansion, 25TB of storage will be added.
  7. Upload 25TB more (the quota is now at 75TB).
  8. To save money, remove 4 users and change to Business Starter account ($6/month). Your account will again be readonly, as you have uploaded 75TB to your drive, and you only have a 30GB quota.

This will give you 75TB of read-only storage for $6/month ($0.08/TB/month). If you need writable storage, just open an additional Google Enterprise account and repeat the procedure.

If you don't need stability, Telegram apparently still offers unlimited space at $0/TB/month. I am hoping for more feedback from users of the Telegram service, I haven't tried it myself.

What's your experience with divyam234/rclone so far, @plokijuter?

If you want fast and stable (and no need to keep it cheap), use any any of the pay-as-you-go providers already mentioned in this thread. I.e. iDrive e2 S3 at $2.5/TB/month.

That's what I like to hear - I'm getting interested

So, how does it all work, I wonder - I guess you start up the divyam234/teldrive daemon locally first, and then set up the teldrive url as a remote in divyam234/rclone afterwards?

Ha ha, I guess it's time for me to read some docs

You will also need ton run postgres database locally. It is pretty simple but I would say the docs are incomplete, try and test. If you need help just ask, just remember I'm not an expert

hi @plokijuter teldrive seems okay at this moment in my few hours of testing. Do you happen to know if premium improve download speeds (significantly)?

No I don't, maybe someone can perform a test.

I've also been using teldrive on my two oracle cloud compute instances running ubuntu 22.04 lts aarch64. Much much better. Was pulling my hair out with onedrive. I want my money back from them for their dial up speeds and seemingly constant issues.

@zer0r00t Hey teldrive developer here it will not matter if you use premium or not you will get same speed as files are splitted and uploaded or downloded through bots and premium account doesn't work for bots. Also premium is a big scam dont fall for that

you don't need to run postgres locally use neondb its best for this I have mentioned this on Readme

upload speed can be increased currently I have capped it to 5MB to prevent flood errors and misuse of service you can join teldrive discord community to know how to increase it .

Please guys, don't be a Hoarder!!!
That's the reason we don't have unlimited alternatives in the first place...
You look like the 200Tb guy (teldrive private joke), using Telegram as cold storage will only raise a red flag, and ruin everything for everyone.

Uploading 50Tb to see 5% or less is moronic, or will take years.

I also am using it with plex but I only upload what I'm going to see, and delete afterwards. I've less than 1Tb.

Hahaha. Every unlimited option which becomes public knowledge has limited time to live. People will go through any crack available and destroy it. I would not count on any common sense here.

So true, people forget there will always be new better and smaller encodes available. The internet will not end tomorrow...
They prefer to have a lot for short time than enough for longer...

I do use neon. I think you meant to reply to someone else's post?

True these people are braindead saving every 4K Ultra HD movies t which they never see in their life again. These sonar radar like tools are the biggest culprit here just give them easy way to do that.

Is it maybe possible to make teldrive compatible with rclone in general, not only through this fork? This would be actually nice. So you don't need to manage multiple rclone forks on a single machine.

People who seriously store several terabytes on Telegram servers are out of their depth. Sorry, but that's just stupidly selfish and sad. This is a hole in the system and you will lose your data 100% it's just a matter of time.

STOP USING TELEDRIVE OMG ...

Why?
They offer it. You can upload through official Telegram-Client also big data into Channels. Since years! And Russia pumping money into this infrastructure because they use it for their propaganda-efforts. So what is wrong with that?
Why are you holier than the pope please?
If this is not for you then keep yourself shut and don't shout at people.
Thank you

Shush, I wanna see it implode

We already broke Google, One Drive, then Dropbox and then Box. And TG isnt remotely prepared for what's to come.

But I agree, shouting is not necessary.

Yeah i am aware of that.
But i am unsure if one could say that "we broke" those companies.
They all, even Box, had immense growth regarding the value of their company-shares during the times of those offerings. And contrary to the view that "Dropbox" was broken that way, they were even more worth after they cancelled their unlimited plan and made their business-customers angry.
From their business perspective it's all going well. Their investors are happy.
And i also question this notion that one must in anticipatory obedience refrain from using something that is offered to you by people that make way more money than oneself. This is not how i understand how business and markets work.
And regarding "teldrive". It is just another interface to interact with Telegram Servers. You can also pack you backups manually as zip and upload it there through their official client. Not much difference. So i don't see the problem here at all.

Or to put it more bluntly:
Neither google, nor One Drive or Dropbox or also Telegram care if I make bad decisions and lose money to them, why should i care if they make bad(?) decisions and lose money to me. It's their free decision to offer those things.
