Sync -P made within the wrong folder : a way to recover misdeleted files?

hello

i did a mistake : i launched a rclone sync -P remote:/ ./local, but from the wrong folder. As a result, the log says that lot of files were “well deleted”, as they doesnt figure within the source directory.

it’s under linux, on a ntfs volume. Is there a simple way to recover those? as i still have the (long) logs, who shows that dozen (or even hundred) of files has been deleted. Does rclone can cancel a previous order?

thank you vm

no. tho, might try a NTFS undelete utility.

no. fwiw, to prevent that from occurring again, try something like:

rclone sync ./local remote:full --backup-dir=remote:incrementals/`date +%Y%m%d.%I%M%S`

my initial command was this, how to adapt to the second one of your answer?

>rclone sync -P tribunal:/en-direct-du-tribunal/* ./ --metadata --header "X-Archive-Meta-Mediatype: audio" --header "X-Archive-Meta-title: Hey This Works" --header "X-Archive-Meta-Creator: It's Me" --dump headers

thank you

in additon, several lines in output appears like :

what does it means, the “encrypted” one ? i think it was data on a luks, backed up on that ntfs volume

afiak, should not use trailing asterisk, instead use en-direct-du-tribunal/

fwiw ./ should not be used with rclone, leads to mistakes, such as in your case.
best to use a full path for the dest

here are two ways

rclone sync -P tribunal:/en-direct-du-tribunal/ /home/username/directory/full --backup-dir=/home/username/directory/incrementals/`date +%Y%m%d.%I%M%S`
rclone sync -P tribunal:/en-direct-du-tribunal/ /home/username/directory/ --backup-dir=/home/username/incrementals/`date +%Y%m%d.%I%M%S`
