Currently rclone/docs/content/install.sh script requires root privileges to be run. It would be nice to provide the possibility to do a rootless install, by targetting a directory like $HOME/.local/bin.
Just download the binary and put it where you want from the downloads page.
Sure, but is way more impractical. The script automatically detects the correct version to install for your architecture. Moreover, it could do other setup things like installing completion that otherwise you have to do manually
