Remote folder wiped out, help!

Hi guys,

here's the situation..
this morning rclone started to sync my Anime folder 2.5tb from scratch and seeing this...panic!
checking the previous logs I found this:

this looks like an issue with the computer.
if the h: drive an external usb or what?

have you tried to reboot the windows computer, nothing better than a reboot for windows.

H is a drivepool of various usb HDD's.
sometimes happen that some disk goes offline for some seconds, but the problem is that usually rclone doen't treat this situation as a missing folder..
this time rclone treated it like an empty folder and, correct me if I'm wrong, this is not a good behaviour..

yes, it is not good behavior for the operating system to have disks go offline.

perhaps whatever is wrong with your computer is getting worse over time and now has reached a point where rclone has an issue.

as it is a windows computer, perhaps it just needs a reboot.

also, make sure to use latest stable version of rclone.

this was a single time behaviour man..
I use 3 raidsonic usb3 enclosure. One of this sometimes disconnect and reconnect..
The sync started automatically this morning (2 day after the problem) and rclone started to sync the 2.7 tb from scratch...

but what I'm saying is that a MISSING folder and a EMPTY folder are two different situation..
if you start an rclone sync from a disconnected usb drive to a remote, rclone will wipe the remote folder?
I hope not..because the folder is MISSING and not valuable..
I don't know if I reach the point..

on a sync, if rclone raises any errors, it will not delete files.

In general if you run sync and have a file gone from the source, it'll be removed from the destination as that is what sync does.

If you have USB drive going on/off and files disappearing, you are asking for trouble. You'd want to fix that so you have a reliable source so you have a reliable destination.
