Redirect URL: I don't know how to set it

What is the problem you are having with rclone?

I am having the same problem as the owner of this thread: "NOTICE: Make sure your Redirect URL is set to "http://127.0.0.1:53682/" in your custom config". However, I do not understand the solution that ncw gives: "When you set up your client_id at google, you need to put the redirect URL in there".

I feel really stupid but I do not know where to put the redirect. Is it in the rclone config? or in some other config?

Can you please help an obviously clueless rclone beginner? Hopefully I can then start using google drive ...

Run the command 'rclone version' and share the full output of the command.

rclone 1.60.1

  • os/version: fedora 37 (64 bit)
  • os/kernel: 6.1.14-200.fc37.x86_64 (x86_64)
  • os/type: linux
  • os/arch: amd64
  • go/version: go1.19.3
  • go/linking: dynamic
  • go/tags: none
It does not seem like the last version, if I look at the fedora output of the previous question. I seem to have 1.60.1 and the latest version is 1.61.1. Would that really be the problem? I still don't know how to add the redirect url.

Which cloud storage system are you using? (eg Google Drive)

Google Drive

The command you were trying to run (eg rclone copy /tmp remote:tmp)

A log from the command with the -vv flag

Paste log here: if necessary I will provide, but I think my lack of knowledge is the problem.

Thank you very much for your effort and your time!

Did you generate your own client ID and secret?

Yes, I created a client ID and a secret. I just erased them in this post.

Did you get an error when trying to authorize?

I could log on to google. The second line below my google userid referred to rclone. After agreeing, the next page shows "something went wrong". If you need it, I can probably reproduce it.

The error would be helpful.

Try Chrome / Incognito window as well as it's Google is tricky at times.

Ok, here is the screenshot of the error message.

See my previous comment, try Chrome/Incognito..

I actually did immediately, and indeed that works. As a non-techie I would like to know what the incognito means. Is that the same as Chrome?

To finish, I set freeworld chrome to default and that works. Can I set the default back to firefox? Or would that interfere?

Finally, thank you very much for your help!!

Incognito is a private window with no session data/cookies/previous history. It helps to ensure you are logging in as the right user.

Just one more query: is it customary for me to close after I found a solution? Or should I leave it open?

EDIT: the post closes in 3 days anyway, so this is moot.

Thanks for helping!!
