Onedrive - slow transfer speed (10 MB/s)

What is the problem you are having with rclone?

Onedrive endpoint is very slow. 5 MB/s at home and 10 MB/s from server (1GB/s connection; verified by speedtest-cli.)

  • Are these transfer speeds normal for Onedrive (Microsoft Office 365 Family)?
  • Are there any flags i could use to increase transfer speed?

Run the command 'rclone version' and share the full output of the command.

rclone v1.66.0
- os/version: ubuntu 22.04 (64 bit)
- os/kernel: 5.15.0-1040-oracle (aarch64)
- os/type: linux
- os/arch: arm64 (ARMv8 compatible)
- go/version: go1.22.1
- go/linking: static
- go/tags: none

Which cloud storage system are you using? (eg Google Drive)

Onedrive (Microsoft Office 365 Family)

The command you were trying to run (eg rclone copy /tmp remote:tmp)

rclone mount remote: /mnt/rclone/ --allow-non-empty --poll-interval 0 --verbose --vfs-cache-mode writes

yes, much discussed in the forum.

in general, rclone mount is slower than rclone copy
might try to increase transfers, might try to increase chunksize.

you can also try to force ipv4. I noticed much better performance --bind 0.0.0.0

Although one person in the forum has once said they get much higher speeds than this from OneDrive, I have not been able to achieve this consistently. The transfer might start faster, but always ends up in the region of 10MB/s.

I think to an extent it depends on the relative location of your OneDrive data centre and your server too.
