Google will block sign-ins from embedded browser frameworks

Will this affect Google Drive backend?
Just received this email:
Hi,

We are writing to let you know that Google will discontinue support for sign-ins to Google accounts from embedded browser frameworks, starting January 4, 2021.

We are following up with you about a recent blog post outlining our effort to block less secure browsers and applications. We have not detected any traffic from your project that would be affected in the last 30 days. However, please take the time to review your use of Google Account authorization flows in the following Google OAuth client IDs and confirm that you are in compliance with the policy before January 4, 2021

Please refer to our blog post for more information about the policy enforcement and how to test your apps for potential impact. If necessary, you may request a [Policy enforcement extension request for embedded browser frameworks expiring June 30, 2021, by providing all required information.

Sincerely,

The Google Account Security Team

hello and welcome to the forum,

is that the entire email, did it include a link to that blog post?

is this it?

Yes, that's the blog post originally linked. Thanks

I got one of these too.

Are you using rclone from a browser based on Chromium Embedded Framework @dangmoo ?

I think rclone use through a normal browser will be unaffected - at least that is my reading of the blog. Since rclone does the oauth using the browser you have installed - provided this is a normal browser then everything should be OK I think.

I'm not 100% sure about that interpretation though.

I use rclone on Linux VPS terminal, initial auth from an external browser indeed.
Lets hope everything will remain OK

Hmm, did anyone else get one of these? If so have you done transactions from an embedded browser?

I haven't seen that. I only use rclone and a few other API hits for auth.
