Hmm, there is a can of worms!
The Go team don't have a great reputation for actually listening to users when they've decided that they want to do something. They are an incredibly technically talented lot, but less so in the human relations department.
My fear, judging by the Go teams's previous actions, would be that they shove telemetry in, on by default against user protest. I think this would be very bad for the Go ecosystem as it would immediately turn a lot of developers against Go.
Let's hope they see sense!
