File structure when syncing from Google Photos to Dropbox

Hi,

I am attempting to sync from Google Photos to Dropbox.

Files are being transferred, so that's a good start.

However during the process, files are being duplicated on the Dropbox side.

I’ve noticed that rclone creates thje follwoing directories:

album/[subfolder]
feature/favourites
media/all
media/by-day
media/by-month
media/by-year
shared-album

The challenge I'm facing is that media/all contains every photo.

Then copies of each photo (up to 4 copies) are placed in the following directories.

album/[subfolder]
media/by-day
media/by-month
media/by-year

THis is very annoying and taking ages to transfer

Any ideas on how to move forward?

Thanks!

welcome to the forum,

you can choose what to copy by specifying the path, instead of copying from root.

can exclude folders, something like
rclone ls remote: --exclude=/media/all/

if you want to make a backup of your google photos you might choose to backup remote:media/by-month

I did not read the ******* instructions.....

Thanks for highlighting this!
