Dedup existing sync

What is the problem you are having with rclone?

No problem per-se...

Q: If I manually dedup my source files by removing duplicates and creating symlinks, on next SYNC, will rclone delete the symlink targets? Or will it ignore the target files?

Run the command 'rclone version' and share the full output of the command.

rclone v1.68.1

  • os/version: freebsd 12.2-release-p14 (64 bit)
  • os/kernel: 12.2-release-p14 (amd64)
  • os/type: freebsd
  • os/arch: amd64
  • go/version: go1.23.1
  • go/linking: static
  • go/tags: none

Which cloud storage system are you using? (eg Google Drive)

S3 compatible == iDrive e2

hi,
can do a test on a single file using --dry-run -vv`

I guess that's true. I can run the whole thing via dry-run...that way I'd see what happens to all the targets.

Just figured someone would know the answer definitively.

Appreciate the quick reply.
