Is the config file format documented anywhere?

I’d like to add some options like “transfers” so they default to my preference unless otherwise specified on the command-line.

Not really - it is a pretty standard ini format though.

Alas you can only put backend options in the config file at the moment. It is planned to add that though!

You can set environment variables, eg RCLONE_TRANSFERS=16 which is equivalent to --transfers 16.
