Changing default location of rclone.conf?

I tried to change the default location of my config file because on qnap nas it gets put in the /root/ directory which is only few MB big.

rclone --config="/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/RCloneCache/.config/rclone/rclone.conf" config

then i can see the remotes but when press q and then enter rclone config file then it still shows the old location.

What am I doing wrong ?

Did you run rclone config file without the --config option? Then it will just look in the default location(s). So you would actually need to run: rclone --config="/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/RCloneCache/.config/rclone/rclone.conf" config file

If you don’t want the --config option in every call, you could set the path in an environment variable RCLONE_CONFIG instead.

How do i do that ? with the environment variable ?

I’m not familiar with qnap, unfortunately.

Another question, I have mounted my gcrypt to a folder on my nas.

When I want to upload something now I can just paste it in that folder correct?

Usually in your shell profile as mine is in my .bashrc

# RClone Config file
RCLONE_CONFIG=/data/rclone/rclone.conf
export RCLONE_CONFIG

In Systemd, it is like this:

cat gmedia-rclone.service
[Unit]
Description=RClone Service
PartOf=gmedia.service
RequiresMountsFor=/data

# This uses cmount as it's a built version of rclone from source
# sync_read must be used or files are read out of order
# auto_cache allows for system memory to be used

[Service]
Type=notify
Environment=RCLONE_CONFIG=/data/rclone/rclone.conf
ExecStart=/usr/bin/rclone mount gcrypt: /GD \
   --allow-other \
   --bind 192.168.1.30 \
   --buffer-size 1G \
   --dir-cache-time 72h \
   --fast-list \
   --log-level INFO \
   --log-file /home/felix/logs/rclone.log \
   --umask 002 \
   --vfs-read-chunk-size 128M \
   --vfs-read-chunk-size-limit off
ExecStop=/bin/fusermount -uz /GD
Restart=on-failure
User=felix
Group=felix

[Install]
WantedBy=gmedia.service

I added the lines to my .bashrc it now looks like this:

# ~/.bashrc: executed by bash(1) for non-login interactive shells.
export PATH=\
/bin:\
/sbin:\
/usr/bin:\
/usr/sbin:\
/usr/bin/X11:\
/usr/local/bin

else

export PS1='# '
  else
export PS1='$ '

In my QNAP I can not find any systemd. so I am not sure where to create such a file. Could you advice on that ?
