Can't create new directory on Google Drive remote

What is the problem you are having with rclone?

rclone is unable to create directories on a Google Drive Remote. Uploading files works just fine, but folder creation is not possible.

When mounted and executing mkdir an IO error occurs (no more information, but I suspect it might be the same). Copying files itself is no problem at all.

What is your rclone version (output from rclone version)

Its gdrive: on linux and gDrive: on windows. the command was taken from windows, while the log was on my linux maschine.

on both maschines its the only remote

you can test using --dry-run

can do do a
rclone mkdir gdrive:testfolder

apparently the issue is with the first directory in the hierarchy for example: gdrive:Games/phoning_home/dlc

Games – is a is a symlink to a directory deep in the structure
phoning_home – does NOT yet exist
dlc – subdirectory

when phoning_home is created on the WebUI of drive it successfully creates dlc when moving phoning_home

rclone mkdir gdrive:test works just fine, while rclone mkdir gdrive:Games/test does not work. So my guess would be that the issue is with the symlink

can confirm now. when using the entire path without symlink it works.

working: mkdir gdrive:Backups/Services/Games/GOG/test
not working: mkdir gdrive:Games/test

when Games -> Backups/Services/Games/GOG

You mean it is a Drive shortcut rather than a symlink I think?

Shortcuts are a recent addition to rclone (and to drive!)

I managed to replicate the problem and come up with a fix - can you try this?
