Can future updates disable rclone from syncing with Google Drive?

Can a future update from rclone and/or Google release an update that will disable syncing unless you update rclone on the device you're using?

I'm asking because I have my raspberry pi with rclone syncing google drive on a location I can't easily access so I am wondering how often I might have to update rclone to make sure it keeps syncing.

I am currently using rclone's default client ID if that makes a difference.

It's best to update, but nothing is for sure. If Google's API was to change, you'd have to update at some point, but nothing in the short term to my knowledge would force you to upgrade.

rclone has added a selfupdate command, that might be helpful to you
rclone selfupdate
