Box.com monthly API limits

I see this, on my main account (which I copied over maybe 2 months ago)

Storage Used

26.8 TB of Unlimited

Bandwidth Used

8.1 GB of Unlimited

Max File Size

5.0 GB

on the newer account from two weeks ago:

Storage Used
20.3 TB of Unlimited
Bandwidth Used
0 B of Unlimited
Max File Size
5.0 GB

very odd

Let’s just say I have much more than that in a shorter timeframe lol. Email is deserved, but when will this limit reset? I’m getting 429 errors now

Interesting. I still see 0 B. The account ID mentioned in the email they sent me doesn’t even match with the one on that page

Ah I see where they got it from, it’s your “Enterprise Id” that you can find Box | Login

Looking at their fair use policy I see

1TB per user per month for both Box Business and Individual plans

But that seems kind of low for a business offering “unlimited” storage so unsure what they’re referring to exactly.

Wonder if Enterprise is exempt from this or it falls under Business.

Yes, I wonder. I'd gladly pay them the much higher price of more than double that enterprise costs. If they would guarantee it would actually work.

Although come to think of it, I wonder if when they say business they mean business? In which case would upgrading to business plus be enough to get them to back off?

Judging from the tone of the legalese though I'd say both business and business plus plans are "business plans" in this context?

I am on Business Plus and got the email so don’t think so

Hello,

We are on the Enterprise plan and have received the same email.

Currently, we have uploaded less than 30 TB and have fewer than 20,000 activities (out of the 100,000 allowed by the plan).

I have the Enterprise Plan, and also received this mail

Seems like they basically sent it to everyone migrating data from gdrive. Clowns advertise unlimited then can’t handle the heat

I also received this email, seems everyone received it at once and it doesnt matter how much you uploaded because people have 20TB got the same e-mail, where my accoint with 7 users has over 200TB stored and has 500,000 rclone uses. Wayyyyy above their api limit. I believe this email is targeting rclone users, as it avoids their api , unleas they changed that now....

But wherver I look, anyone that was using rclone on box got the email, regardless of how much data you have, they just decided to take action against rclone and probably curb its usage.

I have not received an email. Have well over 200TB and use rclone exclusively (600k api hits). However, I started migrating my data to box almost 2 months ago. Probably only the "new" people will be affected.

How do you check API usages?

What is your new BW limit?

I have not noticed any differences but I'm also not uploading multi TBs amount of data

Depends on where you live, however they do intentionally slow api bandwidth to control usage. I have 5gb fiber and the fastest I ever got was 50MB/s ( 500mbps ). Most of our other using range from 40-60MB/s.

@left1000 what settings are you using after all? for copy and maybe for mount?

I consider mount to be against the terms of service of every one of these companies and services, as such I've never used it. key copy flags I've used are --tps-limit low number and --tranfers high number... BUT JUST TODAY I've gotten a TON of rate limited errors that I hadn't been getting in past weeks :frowning:

edit: TLDR my advice applies only to before today, as of today, nothing works.

also getting 429 errors on uploads... We will see how this pants out, but as of right now its not looking good.

Their bandwidth limiter is looking really inefficient but also brutal.... "Unlimited" alternatives to Google Drive, what are the options? - #752 by left1000
