Blocked rclone solution?

sorry. its windows 10.

using pulse secure vpn to connect with office, before any internet traffic works. (although ms-teams works outside of this vpn).

thanks

what is the exact version of windows, for example.
W10.2004 64 bit

so you are a remote worker, working from home?

Actually, its Windows 8 v6.3 build 9600

Yes remote working with laptop.

Even though wifi connected, internet doesn't work until I login via the vpn.

ms-teams works outside of the vpn though.

am i correct that your need to use rclone with ardigrade is not work related?

how much data are you looking to sync/copy/move?

it could be that the vpn has a default rule to blacklist everything and needs a whitelist rule for each permitted site.

well its really to backup my notes etc.

probably 10-100mb needed.

loads of sites on browser are blocked but many others work, but tardigrade.io works fine. not sure which site rclone connects to as its distributed storage.

I couldn't find any other rclone backend that worked in the browser, so focusing on tardigrade.

thanks

have you tried to install TCC on a computer that is no locked down and copy the files to the locked down computer?

I will do that later today, although I have no problem running rclone already from file manager

yes, but with tcc, you can run .bat and .cmd files and run them.
tcc does not use cmd.exe

thats true. will be helpful. thx

do you have a recommendation for http proxy program without admin rights and portable installation.

can that laptop access the lan and other comptuers in your home?
can you ping devices on the lan?

i run a proxy server on my cellphone.
works well with rclone.

Hi,

I installed TCC command on another pc and copied folder to work laptop. It runs fine as a portable app.

I've tried pinging other computers in my home wifi, but it can't reach them as below.

Pinging 192.168.0.103 with 32 bytes of data:
General failure.

Not sure how you connected laptop to your phone proxy but that def wouldn't work here.

Perhaps a portable http proxy program on same laptop might work?

I've tried making backup on local usb stick, but restrictions mean I can read from usb stick but not write to it (although I can make folders).

Any suggestions to resolve most welcome.

thanks

does the laptop have a cdrom burner?

do tracert 8.8.8.8
do route print

about proxy server, i do the same thing as this but i do not use putty.

tracert 8.8.8.8 times out, but also goes through initially. very stage.

route print doesn't do anything.

I'll check out your links and see if they can help.

thanks

hi

are you able to guide on how to use putty to connect rclone to outside world, not restricted by working blocking the network?

I've had a look at putty and it needs a server to route the traffic. I don't have a server and even if I did, not sure if work network would allow the traffic to reach there via source port?

Also, I couldn't see any documentation on rclone on how to do this?

Sorry if question is rookie, but need guidance as not done this before.

thanks

i am going to drop off this post, you are trying to work around your company's locked down laptop and that is not a rclone topic.

as for the proxy server, that has already been answered.
also, i shared some links and there are many guides on the internet and youtube

hi,

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for your help till now.

The reason its an rclone topic, is that I only need to do this for rclone.

I'm already fine with everything else on browsing etc.

I've figured out I can use my nordvpn servers for https or socks5 proxy addresses, so that resolves that issue.

The only final query I have is:

  1. What is advantage of using putty instead of just putting the https destination server address directly to rclone via env settings? Both would be encrypted.

  2. The only other issue is what port to use.

Anyway, thanks for your help to date Jojo

glad you got it working,

couldn't get rclone to connect past the firewall in the end.

I found a socks5 and http server with nordvpn, but couldn't even ping them behind the firewall.

Any direct connections seem to fail, if it doesn't go through the company internal proxy I think. Same for the browser.

I've had to give up on this as can't think of any other way to connect rclone past the firewall barriers.

thanks for trying anyway.
