I am currently using Rclone to perform a local copy of around 9.5 TB of files from one external drive to a folder (which I’ll call ‘My_Backup’) within another external drive. However, having just set up a Jottacloud account, I’m also eager to get this new folder backed up to an RClone crypt remote that I set up on Jottacloud. Both of these will be copy rather than sync operations.
Would it be necessary to wait for the local file copy to complete (which may take a day or so) before I begin backing up My_Backup to my Jottacloud-hosted crypt remote? Or does RClone know to skip files that are currently being updated on My_Backup?
And if running these two backups simultaneously could cause any issues, would I be able to resolve them by rerunning the My_Backup –> Jottacloud crypt backup later on? (I figure this is the case, but I wasn’t sure if using a crypt folder would create any complications here.)
Ah yes, that would have been a much better (and more straightforward) approach. Well, around 1.5 TB of data has gotten uploaded to Jottacloud so far. Things seem to be working well, but after the local backup finishes running, I could try canceling the current Jottacloud upload; deleting the current files; and then resuming the backup.
However, I also figure that, if my current approach led to any issues with the existing files in Jottacloud, those would get resolved when I next run this backup–correct?
