Same problem here. Hetzner say, we have contacted google but they just don't even want to look at the issue, You are not the only on with this problem.
I have contacted google and they put first level support people asking dumb question.
Solution: Move to OneDrive or elsewhere. Don't loose time with this issues
Facing the 429 issue again today. Had the hosts file entries below since March and was working fine, now buggered again. I'm in the process of getting off of Google Drive but need to keep things running for another month or so. Is there any other workaround except Wireguard? Looking for a quick solution even if it's just temporary, don't want to rent another VPS for a month if possible. My server is in FSN1-DC10.
Well. I got tired of this damn 429ers. So I took a decision and rented a 160TB Box with 2 1TB NVMe SSD as Systemdrive.
I am actually moving all my media to the system now and will get rid of my google drives. Overall it will cost me the same per month as to operate with one Plexserver, one Seedbox and all 4 Google Drives.
No, I did not receive a notification that I exceeded the used space, I am just tired of the behavior from google with always blacklisting IP Addresses.
I did some testing (also facing the 429 issue on my Hetzner sever).
It seems that google put harsher limits on API access.
Small files transfer fine.
Even when I throw multiple big files at it, it will still transfer some of them and then error out.
I checked my quotas and I am barely even using 0.01%.
i've been rock solid after the hosts file edit months ago...
i think we've been looking in the wrong place.
i only use rclone to transfer files to gdrive... my actual gdrive mount is plexdrive 5 not rclone... (long story, but plexdrive worked better for the highest bitrate 4k for me and if it aint broke don't fix it)
i am thinking there is something about the rclone mount, that is triggering the stricter api rules.
i'd be curious if anyone has had the 429's that isn't running an actual rclone mount?
You could be on to something, I only stopped using Plexdrive5 this year when I moved to a new dedicated server shortly before the issues started.
I find Rclone with VFS cache better than Plexdrive5, although I never had any issues with Plexdrive5 I just changed as Plexdrive5 has not been supported for years
The same for me. I just switched from Plexdrive 5 to rclone VFS 13 days ago. As with my new setup/install the Plexdrive config I had wasn't working as google changed something at the oath/or something. And the config I copied over wasn't working.
i seriously think this might be the issue (api hits used up by the mount somehow, causing uploads to 429)
wondering if you switched back to plexdrive, waited a few days then saw if the ban went away and didn't come back (not sure if its a 24 hour thing like the 403's etc.. but i'm not sure when gdrive would reset after the 429s, after disconecting the rclone mount)
