I asked exactly that in the follow-up to one of my tickets. Guess what? They simply ignored the question.
AI would be more honest and responsive, I think -- so I guess it's just olde NS (Natural Stupidity).

As some have mentioned, It seems that when box.com restricts upload bandwidth it also prevents downloads to your own files which goes against their own documentation. Understand How Box Measures Bandwidth Usage – Box Support
I have opened a ticket at an employee's recommendation, and they have asked me to CC them. Hopefully we can at least get to a point where if uploads are restricted, downloads that do not affect bandwidth won't be.
My biggest issue is not the limit, but how they screwed it up.
I got limited after midnight from 08.31 to 09.01 without uploading 1TB
And since that night I cannot upload anything
PS:
I have tried a new client id, a new server
It is not like google throw the 429 error for specific IPs or hosting providers
5000PB! Fancy selling a shared drive to a fellow Workspace user in need?
No box.com is in the wrong, why? Because it's not 1tb per user it's 1tb per thingie. As in, you're paying for 3users, that should mean 3tb per month, but they're actually saying it's 1tb per month.
Although if you're pushing 80tb per month, then yeah, uh, 3 versus 1 it doesn't really matter...
To clarify, I made a second user, and a second clientsecret, and kept user1 and user2's traffic and storage and even IP totally different. Still user1 runs out, and user2 is also blocked.
TLDR: their fair use policy is just wrong, so no one can actually follow it.
Oh also, I 100% agree, I'm on the cheapo business plan. I'd 100% pay double for the enterprise plan they offer... if that payment got rid of all this nonsense... but it seems like paying them for a more premium plan has ZERO benefit somehow. Which is an odd way for them to structure their plans.
There is a feature matrix. In it there is some option to buy bandwidth and the likes as an add-on.
Where exactly is this "feature matrix" with "some option to buy bandwidth and the likes as add-on."?
I think what most "business" users of box don't understand is that this is a business focused product. Some people read "unlimited Storage" for like 40 bucks per month but aren't reading any contracts or resources. Not denying anything goes well with box. I haven't used them but know some people that use it in a corporate environment and besides some minor things everything is working as expected. But we are talking 4 digits+ a month. There is still unlimited storage with Dropbox, Google and Microsoft. It's just not "easily" available for regular end users or very small businesses. You get what you pay for. IDrive is indeed one of the cheaper cloud storage providers.
This whole thread seems to be pointless right now at least ever since the main topic "unlimited alternatives" got derailed to a dedicated box support/bashing thread with no constructive posts whatsoever. Instead very few people ignore Rclone Forum Faq/ToS FAQ - rclone forum and being very hostile including insults.
To summary the box posts in this thread:
If I forgot something to summarize feel free to add it.
However I still would like @Animosity022 and/or @ncw to try to intervene here in some way. Especially regarding forum behaviour.
I'll ask one more time for everyone to clean up their posts and remove any personal attacks and stuff. If I have to intervene, it's going to be a more nuclear approach and I'm not here to micromanage interactions as that's not a great use of my time either.
Sorry dude I feel like you just came here to either troll or enrage the users talking here. I've seen a lot of it the last few months with people angry that things are changing. Probably best to just move along as it's doing nothing to help anyone.
There are people who have posted that they aren't even at 1 TB of data, and there's no way they could have come close to the fair use policy. Their system is definitely broken and they need to straighten things out over there. All Bandwidth use says is 0 bytes used out of Unlimited. I messaged to make sure we were still under our limit and was told we had not used any bandwidth on all of our users, only to receive an email stopping our uploads 5 days later, yet I had not uploaded anything! Obviously something is wrong on their end and they need to be more clear on what people are doing.
As for Box offering more bandwidth you can purchase, I was told that is not the case at all. You can purchase more seats, but from what I've been told as soon as 1 seat goes over 1 TB (as someone has mentioned) that the entire account gets frozen on uploads.
Thank you for providing the matrix! I don't see anywhere on the website to request these box platform additional resource add-ons however, either during the subscription process, nor in the account admin area. Do you have any information about where the add-ons might be available?
No clue. But I suppose you simply have to contact them and referring to what exactly you want.
As the OP of this thread, I heartly second @Animosity022's call: this thread was entirely pacific and productive (for more than 860 comments over 6 months) until a certain individual[1] started trolling around. I again ask for everyone to not make the same mistake I did in my original (and which I've since removed) response to him/her; just ignore and do not engage, or else he/she might end up reaching his apparent goal and not just sowing disturbance and confusion but also getting the thread locked.
@Animosity022: if despite your and my calls the problems continue, I ask that you please consider the above and ban the individual in question[1] and not lock the thread, which continues to be useful despite these issues, otherwise I think you'd be just throwing away the metaphorical baby and keeping the dirty water.
[1] Please note that I'm not either responding to him/her here, nor naming any names. This way no one needs to feel offended, unless of course the shoe fits....

I still believe that box.com could be a legitimate alternative for me.
I do not need insane amounts of bandwidth or api calls that box.com is mostly focuesd on limiting. I do need confidence though. I read the fine print before giving box.com my money. I'm not upset with my purchase yet.
I am quite worried that they will just nuke my data though. Which is why I'm still paying google full price for read-only status.
If their newly enforced limitations can allow box.com to stabilize. I think they could become a legitimately good alternative. I do not run plex. I do not use mount. My data is mostly just backup's of backup's made in an amateurish fashion without much wisdom or planning.
@ncw even wrote code to fix some flaws with box.com to help potentially reduce even further api usage. But I do not plan to test this code until the situation stabilizes.
I hope I'm not the one who is ruining this thread. If I am, let me know, I can delete my posts if desired.
My needs are close to what amazon glacier would provide, but my skill level is far far far below what would be needed to use amazon glacier.
And with their bandwidth limits what are you going to do when one day you have to restore few TB from your backup? What's the point of having backup you know you can't restore from anything more than 1TB? It is waste of time and money to have it IMHO.
You really want unlimited, take Proton VPN, put you in France and use Uptobox
25€ for 1 year subscription
With unlimited storage, no loss of files
I use it with Plex and Jellyfin and it works great!
is this a video streaming platform?
why the need for france as a location?
i'd throw 150€ at it for backup purposes, but it sounds too sketchy.
Why in France?
Because the site is blocked in the United States
The platform was created by a French team and is now almost 10 years old.
It's a site like 1fichier, but Uptobox offers a service called uptostream
It's a site where you can host all the files you want.
However, if you want to turn it into a video server like Plex, combine Uptobox and rclone and you've got a winner!
