I feel like this post is getting way off point. LayerOnline offers slots, with fast support, otherwise there are other forum posts talking about shares.
I will say, the DropBox system has been auto increasing my storage automatically, as I upload more data. I have never hit an out of space limit while uploading with RClone. Currently uploading 10TB daily.
How much are you paying for Dropbox enterprise?
Layer online does unlimited g-drive and dropbox for 36usd/mo I believe, seems quite high
I am using an unshared Advanced Plan, at $90 a month. Figuring the cheapest online storage is $4/TB, $90 isn't bad.
ahhh ok. I'm thinking of giving mega.nz 8tb plan a go, roughly 20usd monthly. Just trying to find the cheapest solution for minimum 5tb.
As the OP, I strongly disagree: I see this topic as quite on-point and useful, it's serving for people to:
-
post their experiences with Google Drive's "Great Eviction" of large-space users (changing the rules all the time, giving minimum notice, etc -- it will be very hard for Google to recover their reputation and goodwill after they've trashed them so througly).
-
discuss the available alternatives and their experiences migrating to them; this is very helpful because it shows that some of the alternatives (eg, Layeronline) are not as great as they seemed, and therefore help people avoid or at least be wary before sinking money and tons of time migrating to them.
-
'match-make' for available slots in unlimited plans requiring more than one user.
I've been lurking for the last few months (dealing with other, unrelated stuff) but have learned a lot from this topic and continue to do so as I prepare for my final move away from Google: I initially 'hitched a hike' on a friend's Google Workspace plan and migrated my Google Education data there -- the whole plan has 9 users and 60TB and so far hasn't received any 'eviction notice' from Google yet and everything including uploads are still working, despite it showing in the Workspace 'Account storage' webpage as being over quota. I know this won't last so I'm preparing my move, and I plan on continuing to rely on this topic for that.
Do you guys know what google will do after the 60 day grace period? They say it becomes read-only. Which is fine for me but I have 400TB on our gdrive that will take some time to migrate to Dropbox. So I hope they don't purge accounts after the grace period anyway.
That's what happened with the 35TB I had on my .edu account: frozen early January but still accessible in read-only mode (just checked).
I don't recommend that you depend on that, tho: Google has been changing the rules all the time and sometimes even inconsistently.
Instead I recommend you get all your data TFO ASAP, unless you can afford to lose it.
Does anybody have a Dropbox or Box slot available? I don't feel like paying for three if we can share ![]()
thanks! yeah thats the plan just moving 400+TB is gonna take some time lol
purge while people pay for it? what about privacy data? i dont hope so
The problem is not the time it takes to transfer. But that you get more storage space with Dropbox. I am since Over 1 week in idle with my Migration.
I see this company on the web.
It seems they are Google and DropBox reseller.
https://client.layeronline.com/store/unlimited-cloud-drive?language=¤cy=4
Where is the problem with them?
How can sell something that does not exist on DropBox?
there is no problem with them, they just have a normal account and re-sell the slots.
I wouldn't use their services though, mostly because I don't want to depend on someone else to keep the service.
Google has started putting CAPS on the storage. All the Old Google Suite/Workspace accounts are seeing storage CAP
I have a data in google drive which is around 50 TB , i am trying to move to Opendrive
Below is the notification received from Google pertaining to storage
Hello,
You’ve exceeded your pooled storage limit and your account has been placed in a 60 day grace period.
After the grace period ends on Jul 28, 2023, your account will go into a “read-only” state. In this state services will be impacted, including users not being able to upload new files or create new Google Docs, Sheets, Slides or Forms. Learn more about the features that will be impacted in this state.
To prevent any disruption to services, you can free up or get more storage.
Sincerely,
The Google Workspace Team
Google has completely messed up the Market. If they had continued unlimited storage , People would be happy to keep on paying.
Now we are seeing lot of Customers cancelling the account on google workspace.
Hope Google reverts back to unlimited storage back.
Below is the response i received from Opendrive support

The upload speed will gradually become slower as more data is stored when using the Unlimited plans. For the fastest speed, you will need to upgrade to a Custom plan. You can upgrade instantly by going to www.opendrive.com/settings and then click Upgrade and choose the new plan.
I am not so familiar with such terminology... I started years and years ago with ACD, then moved to Google.
what is "a slot"?
so they are not reselling a pure DropBox Service?
Is anyone interested in pcloud or box.com?
I have not bought it yet.
Message me how much storage you use.
Yes, they are reselling the Dropbox service, they subscribe to a plan and charge to add you to theirs
It seems many people are not understanding things regarding Google Workspace.
When GSuite for Business came out it was UNLIMITED storage, then google went to Workspace naming.
When they changed to Workspace they offered "GSuite Legacy" users to upgrade to Workspace Enterprise and specifically stated the upgrade came with "UNLIMITED" storage as a legacy user.
It you look at their page located here, you will still see that information regarding GSuite for Business UNLIMITED and that it is no longer sold.
We are using many Petabytes on Gdrive and have gotten no notices regarding our storage being over limit.
Legally Google sold us on the UNLIMITED and we and many others have the proof we signed and have paid for UNLIMITED for a great many years.
I seriously doubt Google would be able to say No we are going to limit you now!
Not when they specifically Sold it as UNLIMITED.
As long as the payments are made I cannot see how they can legally change it.
Scroll down you will SEE the tables and storage limits.
I have searched Googles website and even workspace.google.com for any announcement by Google in regards to UNLIMITED plans for legacy user and found nothing, we have not received any emails from Google either telling us of any changes.
The issue is with those who bought Workspace AFTER Google stopped selling UNLIMITED, and those who do not have enough paid users per Workspace account.
Am I saying Google cannot or will not change this for everyone, NO. They are so big if the ROI turns out it is cheaper to pay off the lawsuits they face versus the savings on storage etc.
But Google did try this once before with the Pictures and US State Attorney Generals launched lawsuits against them over it, Google quickly did an about face on the Picture storage and the lawsuits were dropped.
The important thing is if you have a Legacy Account is to get your users up to 5 or more, if you do not then find someone willing to let you join there's and pay the fee's every month to keep it active.
Interesting, thanks for the detailed post
What does your "Admin storage" screen shows you?
Here's what I got here (which, despite being an old GSuite Business account migrated to Workspace which always had more than 5 users, still shows as being over a 5TB-per-account limit):
Yes, it shows that message but we have never got an email from Google nor had any limits placed on our Storage.
Keep in mind it would be very hard for google to create Multiple different "Storage" Notices for Legacy users.
Would be a lot of extra coding, but I am sure they have something that identifies Legacy from Non Legacy
We have many different Workspace accounts meaning parent ones.
I have been testing a really old one I use for a specific purpose with only 1 user on it and still not getting any notices. Though I am expecting it might since it is a single user.

For testing purposes I am going to put 1 PB on this single user account
I am NOT going to post our main account details since it is so huge and by posting it Google could easily find it by the just the Size it lists!
