Not sure if the Slack is still around, but, the automated invite system seems to be broken at the moment.
Yes you are right, the slack inviter is broken. I'm not sure its worth the effort to fix it though as slack has never been well used...
I'd just remove it at this point. I think a few posts about this in years is enough reason.
