Nothing is writing to the mount. If there was, you would see rclone handling it since the highest verbosity is turned on
All I have is you telling me that and a log that seems to show something different.
Somebody must be mistaken and I ask for information to find out who or what - without it I cannot do more.
If anything was writing to the mount, you would see stuff like this in the log. Rclone checking the cache for each chunk of the file to see if its present or not and getting ready to make the vfsmeta file so it can start uploading the changes
There is no writing in the previous log. All that was accessed was Autorun.inf which is Windows checking for the presence of a Autorun and the contents of it if its present which I cant easily stop short of changing behavior for the system globally
That log just shows it's reading the chunk and doesn't need to download it as it is 'present' meaning the local file and the remote file are the same. That's not getting ready to upload.
You'd see a writing entry for those type of things.
Screenshots are super tough to read btw so if you paste logs in, it makes things much easier.
Use the 3 backtics and paste them in as a code block.
I'm not sure what the issue is from trying to read through.
If rclone was having an issue uploading a file, there'd be a log entry show it failed.
Example:
vfs cache: failed to upload try #4, will retry in 5m0s: vfs cache: failed to transfer file from cache to remote: file name too long
I snippet the beginning part but you see those things as "ERROR:" int he log.

There's no issue to make as there's no problem so far that is seen.
Without a log file or something to look at, making an issue doesn't do much.
You'd have to create the problem and share a debug log with the problem.
The problem is, the debug log and whats actually happening disagree. The log states after a while that the files are purged from the cache like they should be, but the files actually residing in the cache folder never get removed

The files never actually get removed, so whenever rclone happens to get restarted the cycle starts anew and of course, if the files are large in size, the space taken up by the cached file never gets returned back

I'd find that file locally, copy it directly to the remote:
rclone copy remote: -vv
and share the log as that'll figure out if there is an upload issue.
If I was trying to be stubborn or malicious, I would have stopped replying a while ago lol. If it seemed that way I apologize. I had to go somewhere, and all I have right now is a remote console which makes it hard to mess with stuff other than taking screenshots or copying something
You could use --log-file=somefile.txt

So the files upload correctly, but for some reason the cache is not purging them after they get uploaded presumably?
I suggest you perform this command immediately after the stop of the emptied mount:
rclone lsl "Z:/rclone/vfs/archiveenc/" > cache_listing.txt
and then restarts the mount as requested above and then post this file together with the continuous log. That may be very useful in understanding your situation.
If you can stop the mount, retest and wait the minute and the full log, that's really what is needed.
The mount has been stopped for quite a while now, would that be good enough?
@Animosity022 We may agree, but it is important to see the emptied mount closing before checking the cache and restarting the mount.
