I.e, it should be fine to mark the app as production and be done, so long as less than 100 people are using it and people aren't afraid of the unverified app screen.
So is there any way around it?
You just have to hit "Publish app" after setting up your app in Google API Console.
Running into the same problem here. AS @13steinj suggested, I clicked on Publish App and just did not care about google request to provide verification information. Let's see what happens over the next few weeks.
And is publishing the app a working solution? Any messages from Goolge after publishing?
Hi, it seems it's working. Upon publishing, you get a message/prompt that you should submit this and that, just ignore it.
Unfortunately, the expiry period now lowers to 1 hour for me. Tried 13steinj's method by "Publishing app". I saw the scary page, ignored it. But it didn't work - the expiry period is still an hour long.
Best to start a new post and share all the details on what you did/how you did it.
