Rclone encryption keys backup strategy advices?

What is the problem you are having with rclone?

None, just wondering how to backup my encryption keys. Do you have any strategy?

What is your rclone version (output from rclone version)

rclone v1.53.1

  • os/arch: darwin/amd64
  • go version: go1.15.1

Which OS you are using and how many bits (eg Windows 7, 64 bit)

Mojave

Which cloud storage system are you using? (eg Google Drive)

Google Drive

The command you were trying to run (eg rclone copy /tmp remote:tmp)

Paste command here

The rclone config contents with secrets removed.

Paste config here

A log from the command with the -vv flag

Paste log here

You'd just copy the rclone.conf somewhere else. Done.

Thanks, I should have find by myself

In fact, these informations are just the way to recover my data and also to lose all of them if compromised... I will write them on an SD card, dig a big hole in the garden ...

hi,

as an additional form of disaster recovery

for a given password,

  1. add two random characters to the start and three characters to the end.
  2. convert to qr code
  3. print and laminate

Are the additional characters just for obfuscation? At a certain point, you could just trust the physical security of where you store the QR code.

Honestly, you could even just print it out. It would be annoying to have to enter it but not the end of the world.
