Jottacloud, strange issue with encrypt, or user-error?

STOP and READ USE THIS TEMPLATE NO EXCEPTIONS - By not using this, you waste your time, our time and really hate puppies. Please remove these two lines and that will confirm you have read them.

What is the problem you are having with rclone?

Made a new connection AND crypt on Jottacloud [made many connections on other providers before without an issue]. All allegedly works but the files are not visible in crypt OTHER than the initial directory. Files are shown [in encrypted form] on web view within Jottacloud.

It is possible, being visually impaired, I've made an error somewhere, but "going back on myself" doesn't show it.

Run the command 'rclone version' and share the full output of the command.

'''rclone v1.64.2

  • os/version: debian 11.8 (64 bit)
  • os/kernel: 5.10.0-26-amd64 (x86_64)
  • os/type: linux
  • os/arch: amd64
  • go/version: go1.21.3
  • go/linking: static
  • go/tags: none
    7:02 ~ '''

Which cloud storage system are you using? (eg Google Drive)

The command you were trying to run (eg rclone copy /tmp remote:tmp)

No such command, but evidence noted running rclone ls, rclone lsl or rclone lsl on the remote, e,g,

''' rclone lsd JC-Ingest-ENC:ZYZ
          -1 2000-01-01 00:00:00 -1 !ManualDownload
          -1 2000-01-01 00:00:00 -1 !moved 12oct
          -1 2000-01-01 00:00:00 -1 !moved 4oct'''

This to me suggests the crypt must have the right credentials, mounted right AND the directory crypt ok. But the sub-dirs are empty. Looking on the web the "pattern" matches for directories, with various crypted files. They do not emerge with rclone command.

Please run 'rclone config redacted' and share the full output. If you get command not found, please make sure to update rclone.

A log from the command that you were trying to run with the -vv flag

No such log, but see above for comments

And what you can see when run:

rclone ls JC-Ingest-ENC:ZYZ

You get an "empty" prompt returned back, as in zero results.

Yet an example of how it looks on Jottacloud:

Can you run:

rclone ls JC-Ingest-ENC:ZYZ -vv

and post output here

ZYZ was for the example but the CBC SBS are the two directories off the "root" and in the image you see two encrypted directories on the web.

Can you try:

rclone cryptdecode JC-Ingest-ENC: 3vt4n02up6rkaek75aomf9tqtc 0034kh9p6cpcg|41bSli203ts510kmpva6up4si572ehnp9ekk70 011f19r7h3mfnq96jmo21sta0ch43rcc01kg7dkjeddjq7m53b0 026q6c53usvvija9vk2t2jh4heuuoeupdiou3ccfij24na6fupc0

This should decrypt encrypted names from your remote.

It will check if your encryption setup is correct.

Also what is output of:

rclone lsd JC-Ingest:enc
rclone lsf JC-Ingest:enc

Can you encapsulate output of your commands in "```" not "'''"- it is real difficult to read the way you post.

what is the output of:

rclone lsf JC-Ingest-ENC:/newdir

rclone cryptdecode --reverse JC-Ingest-ENC: newdir test.txt

Sorry difficult to see the small nuance in ''' and ยดยดยด

12:38 /home rclone cryptdecode --reverse JC-Ingest-ENC: newdir test.txt
newdir bj6at1t613hto6uro5pircqndg
test.txt op5h89a09ofknad08o5m01vom8
12:38 /home ```
Hmm, maybe ยดยดยดis not right either. Don't see any others on the Nordic keyboard here.

ok now what is the output of:

rclone ls JC-Ingest:enc/bj6at1t613hto6uro5pircqndg

Check out:

How do I type a backtick on a Danish keyboard? - Super User

Checking out that link and found another with a program called Ukelele to look into. It is a pest with bad vision at times. It is the same when writing BASH and those damn brackets/braces.

12:59 /home rclone ls JC-Ingest:enc/bj6at1t613hto6uro5pircqndg
[empty response, no error]

Just copy/paste these three backticks: ```

but moving to your issue:

rclone touch JC-Ingest:enc/bj6at1t613hto6uro5pircqndg/op5h89a09ofknad08o5m01vom8
rclone lsf JC-Ingest:enc/bj6at1t613hto6uro5pircqndg
rclone lsf JC-Ingest-ENC:newdir
13:17 /home rclone touch JC-Ingest:enc/bj6at1t613hto6uro5pircqndg/op5h89a09ofknad08o5m01vom8

13:17 /home rclone lsf JC-Ingest:enc/bj6at1t613hto6uro5pircqndg
13:18 /home rclone lsf JC-Ingest-ENC:newdir ```

I have to admit I have no clue now:) I will try to think about it. There must be some obvious reason we are missing.

Thanks. I hope it suggests I had set it up correctly [I did what hopefully I've done for others and they work] and as said moving data IN didn't error. Could this suggest somehow an error with Jottacloud integration? Would it help then a developer having access to this [relatively new] account to dig deeper?

Maybe other people on the forum can spot some problem here. As for this moment I have no idea.

Well appreciate the help so far as it is then not an "obvious" problem. Maybe @ncw has time to cast an eye over it too, along with anyone else  I'm about to test stuff when and if.

I am not sure exactly how I got it working again, a combination of resetting every part in config, many times resetting tokens and the like. So the tl:dr is it works now, but how I got it really to work I can't say. It is odd, as my other (account) was perfect with JC.

Also removed a couple of posts as they had an element of info I'd not like online [missed it at the original time].
