Issues copying files

What is the problem you are having with rclone?

I am trying to copy files and can't figure out what the issue is.
I'm clearly a newbie, and I'm sure this is a simple user error, but I can't figure it out.

What is your rclone version (output from rclone version)

rclone v1.52.2

  • os/arch: linux/amd64
  • go version: go1.14.4

Which OS you are using and how many bits (eg Windows 7, 64 bit)

Linux lw833 4.19.0-0.bpo.9-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.118-2+deb10u1~bpo9+1 (2020-06-09) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Which cloud storage system are you using? (eg Google Drive)

Google Drive

The command you were trying to run (eg rclone copy /tmp remote:tmp)

---rclone move source:/home31/zebra/media/Movies/Test/test.mp4 dest:/home31/zebra/Stuff/Mount/Plex
2020/12/12 18:58:06 Failed to create file system for "source:/home31/zebra/media/Movies/Test/test.mp4": didn't find section in config file---

the remote source: was not found in the config file.

to get a list of remotes
rclone listremotes

When I ran: rclone listremotes
the response was: GDrive:

Is there something else I should do?

you have to use the correct remote name.

so in your command, change source: to GDrive:

for example,
rclone lsd GDrive:

Even though it is mounted as a folder?
How would I get the the correct path of a file?

well, you never mentioned you are using a mount and never posted the mount command???

Sorry, I'm brand new to this and probably in way over my head...
I really appreciate the help.

never posted the mount command???
and never really posted what you are trying to accomplish.

sorry, the goal is to copy a file from one folder, and paste it in another. The destination folder is a google drive mounted folder.

really, you need to post all you can so we can help you and not guess.

  • post the mount command
  • what is the source folder? the mount or local storage

From what I can tell, the destination folder is on google drive, mounted, and is: /home31/zebra/Stuff/Mount/Plex
The source folder is a local folder: /home31/zebra/media/Movies/Test
I copied those from cyberduck which I used to browse the files via SFTP

How would I share the mount command?

you never posted your config file and your rclone mount command, just paste that into a post, redact id/passwords from the config file.

if source is local and dest is rclone mount, then you can use any linux command or gui app.
no need to use rclone to copy/move files.

if you want to move files from local to GDrive, you can use rclone browser, a nice gui program, like cyberduck.
no need for mount

How would I redact the config file? I don't know how to open it? It is labeled as an Unix executable file.

How do I get the mount command to copy?

if source is local and dest is rclone mount, then you can use any linux command or gui app.
no need to use rclone to copy/move files.

I'm sure how I'd do that. When I try in cyberduck, it fails every time.

any local executable or use command line cp
or midnight commander or any linux program
