Google Shared Drive to Google Shared Drive, Is There a Way to Keep Google Doc Files?

Hey guys,

I am trying to clone from Google Shared Drive to Google Shared Drive and it seems to be converting all my Google Docs to Office Docs. I know Google's API forces the conversion of the files if you download them but when transferring from GSD to GSD is there anyway to preserve the original file? The conversion is NOT the best at all and creates all kinds of issues. I cannot seem to find anything about Shared Drive to Shared Drive
