Chunker flag for copy between two PCs

What is the problem you are having with rclone?

I am trying to use rclone with chunker configuration for transferring file between two windows systems. However I am receiving below error:

2019/12/23 20:57:00 Failed to create file system for "overlay:/": can't use chunker on a backend which doesn't support server side move or copy

Windows machine-client

rclone.conf

[mylocal]
type = http
url = http://remote_ip:8080

[overlay]
type = chunker
remote = mylocal:
chunk_size = 100M
hash_type = none

rclone.exe copy overlay:/ "D:/chunktest/" --size-only --bwlimit 0 --transfers 4 --multi-thread-streams 0 --multi-thread-cutoff 1024M --create-empty-src-dirs --stats 0 --retries 1 -v --log-file="D:\chunktest\rclonetransfer.log" --progress

Windows machine - server

rclone.exe serve http mylocal:S:\movi --addr ip:8080 --dir-cache-time 2s --l
og-file=S:\chunktest\rcloneLog.log

Could you please confirm if chunker is available to windows local systems and not limited to storage systems like s3,etc.. or am I doing wrong way ?

What is your rclone version (output from rclone version)

rclone v1.50.2

  • os/arch: windows/amd64
  • go version: go1.13.4

Which OS you are using and how many bits (eg Windows 7, 64 bit)

Windows 10 , 64-bit

Which cloud storage system are you using? (eg Google Drive)

NA. Trying to transfer files between two Windows PCs

The command you were trying to run (eg rclone copy /tmp remote:tmp)

rclone.exe copy overlay:/ "D:/chunktest/" --size-only --bwlimit 0 --transfers 4 --multi-thread-streams 0 --multi-thread-cutoff 1024M --create-empty-src-dirs --stats 0 --retries 1 -v --log-file="D:\chunktest\rclonetransfer.log" --progress

A log from the command with the -vv flag (eg output from rclone -vv copy /tmp remote:tmp)

It was exiting with below error:
2019/12/23 20:57:00 Failed to create file system for "overlay:/": can't use chunker on a backend which doesn't support server side move or copy

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

The problem appears to be that you are using an http backend which doesn't support server side move or copy.

What you could do is switch to sftp which does support server side move / copy, so create an sftp backend and use rclone serve sftp.
